Healthy at Home

As I said in my blog post earlier this week, I never in a million years expected that COVID-19 would affect our daily lives to extent that it has. There’s no denying that our daily activities are restricted in ways that feel unfamiliar and a little scary.

Obviously, our access to gym facilities is completely gone. If you’re lucky, you already had a home gym setup, like many of my clients do. But if you relied exclusively on your gym membership for “getting in the zone” for exercise, you may find that this transition is tough.

While I’m ready for things to go back to normal, I feel very fortunate that I saw the value in virtual training back in 2015 and have been offering online coaching alongside my in-person services ever since. The custom programs that I offer really work, and the execution is seamless from years of fine-tuning. I’ve been getting a lot of questions about my online offerings, and I wanted to present the comparisons all in one place.

Here is what I’m offering to help you stay (or get!) in shape while you’re out of your regular routine. Let’s take a look…

Option 1: Live Skype Sessions

  • Biggest Advantage: You’ll Definitely Get the Workouts In with One-on-One Attention
  • Biggest Drawback: It Costs the Most

For this service, you need Skype and an internet connection, as well as time for at least one session per week (obviously, it would be better for your fitness if you could do two or three per week). I normally only offer full 60-minute sessions, but in the current climate, I’m making 30-minute sessions available as well so that if you are at home with kids, you can make your workouts more time-efficient.

This is basically personal training over video – you’re working out the whole time. I custom design workouts for you ahead of time based on the equipment you have (if any), and we work together in real time. I watch your form, help you time and count exercises, and walk you through the whole thing. If you want, we can also take time to talk about nutrition and weight loss goals.

The advantage is that if you’re not a confident exerciser (or are absolutely certain you don’t have the wherewithal to do workouts on your own), you will have a Certified Personal Trainer interacting with you, motivating you, and watching your every move.

The potential drawback is price – the price point for this is quite similar to in-person studio training. It is an investment of between $75 (half hour) and $140 (full hour) per session.

For the time being, I am offering a 25% discount on this option if you buy at least 8 sessions.

Option 2: Personalized Workouts On Your Own Time

  • Biggest Advantage: Personalization and Accountability, But On Your Own Time and at a Lower Price Point
  • Biggest Drawback: You Need Just a Little Willpower to Get the Job Done

This is by far my most popular option, and the key word is personalized.

All you need is yourself, whatever equipment you have, and just the tiniest bit of gumption. You tell me what you have at home (even if it’s literally nothing), and I design workouts of any length that you will tackle on your own time. I track your progress remotely, and we check in periodically via phone or Skype (not for exercise, but just for talking). This option is a great blend of independence and accountability, and you do not need to be an experienced exerciser to do this. As said by online client Robin Y., “The workouts she gives are manageable and customized. I knew nothing about working out (really and truly nothing), but was able to follow everything she gave me.” Oh, and did I mention that Robin lost 25 pounds following my exercise program?

The online platform that I have been using since mid-2019 is incredibly user-friendly and effective. You have access to your own user portal with your own custom workouts (with video, telling you exactly how many reps, etc.), and you track your workouts as you go.

The accountability is wonderful, because I can see in real time as the days go by if you are staying on top of your workouts and/or nutrition

Instead of a per-session price, this is a monthly fee. Depending on how involved you want to get, it could be in the $200’s per month to the $400’s per month. Again, you can get a discount if you want to buy three to six months at a time.

For the time being, I am waiving my startup initiation fee and you will only have to pay the monthly fee.

Option 3: DIY 3-Month Program

  • Biggest Advantage: Price and Comprehensive Materials
  • Biggest Drawback: No One is Checking Up On You

Finally, my lowest priced offering is my Fit Smart Fast 12-Week Program. What you trade in accountability you get back in price. For three months, you get literally daily workouts. They’re 20 minutes long, have tons of variety, and are delivered to you via e-mail every day.

Plus, the program is packed with value on many levels – there’s a nutrition and habits workbook, sample shopping lists, a recipe book, and more.

The drawback is that you don’t get the same accountability that you would from the previous two options – no one is checking up on you to make sure you’re doing the workouts or the workbook. But it’s a great program and a good fit for many people.

In the age of COVID-19, I am offering a sale on the Fit Smart Fast Program, so that it is $99 total ($9/week with a free week) instead of $250.

From the Heart…

Real talk – the last thing I want is for this message to come across as opportunistic.

In my mind, it would be one thing if we knew this state of affairs would end in one week or two weeks or a month – but the reality is that we simply don’t know when gyms are going to re-open and when we will resume normal activities. And once you’re talking about months instead of weeks… that’s a lot of time for health habits (and muscles!) to atrophy. But during this weird time, I have this service that I have been using for years to help people get in shape without meeting face-to-face – and it’s ready for you to try it out if you find yourself stuck at home and out of options.

Finally, I want to emphasize that I do not want price to be an obstacle for you if you are really interested. As described, I have a wide variety of options at a range of price points, and would love to work with you.

Think about it, and if it seems like a good fit for you, let me know which option feels like the right match for you by clicking here to set up a free phone call. I can answer your questions and work with you to create a package that’s just right for you, your goals, and your budget.

Be well!
