I never predicted that I would be so passionate about fitness, nutrition, and health. In fact, if you currently can’t bring yourself to exercise, if you love delicious food, and if you are struggling to make a change in your life, then please know how much I relate to you!

I’m based in Bay Head, New Jersey, and I work with clients all over the world, but I’m originally from the Deep South.

I inherited a love for fried food, heavy desserts, and potluck dinners. It’s easy to say things like, “You only live once!” when confronted with tempting food choices. But at the rate I was going as a young adult, I wasn’t going to enjoy quality of life for long. I was 50 pounds overweight and climbing – I don’t even know what weight I eventually reached, because I finally stopped weighing myself because I didn’t like what I saw on the scale! But I didn’t need a scale to tell me I was in trouble. Everything from climbing stairs to riding a bike was becoming embarrassingly difficult. No matter what I did, I couldn’t lose weight. I was easily out of breath, I felt sluggish and heavy every time I ate, and I felt resigned to a lifetime of being out of shape and overweight.

I didn’t think it was possible to change.

But then the turning point came. I spent one month in Ireland in 2010, eating my way across the country, and I gained weight so quickly that I actually scared myself. I remember the look on loved ones’ faces when they first saw me upon my return – I could tell that my appearance had changed frighteningly fast, and that people were concerned.

That was when I got serious about change.

With significant support from loved ones, I totally transformed my lifestyle, one step at a time. First came the food, which is why I am now a certified Fitness Nutrition Specialist – I know how important your eating habits are, and the right steps for you to take to improve them. Then came the exercise. First it was just easy walking, but gradually I added strength training, yoga, running, and more. This is why I am also certified as a Therapeutic Exercise Specialist – I understand how to layer in exercise difficulty so that you are always working on the appropriate goals for your level of fitness, in order to prevent injury and burnout.

With consistency, determination, and baby steps, the weight began to fall off. Within a year, I dropped from double-digit dress sizes to my natural 25-inch waist, and fell in love with running, biking, yoga, weight lifting, and creative healthy cooking. My lifestyle was fun, manageable, sustainable, and yielded the results that I had never thought possible.

I was a school teacher at the time. But as the years passed, and I felt that my path of wellness and health was something that could make a difference in the lives of others, I got certified as a personal trainer (NASM) and fitness nutrition specialist (ACE).

Where am I now? I coach women full-time (face-to-face and online) from my home studio in Bay Head, New Jersey. My husband Michael and I enjoy exploring the beaches in our area, running our businesses full-time from home, traveling, running, and cooking.
